Clay is the supreme medium for me. All my work is hand-made from porcelain slabs and decorated using a variety of techniques including inlay, sgraffito, incising, metal lustre painting and printing. I spend hours in my workshop, forgetting the outside world, immersed in transforming a malleable lump of clay into a range of contemporary tableware.
The imagery I use is drawn from coastal, horticultural and Japanese influences and memories, which unconsciously become absorbed into the melting pot of ideas, and resurface as delicate designs. There are an infinite number of images, methods and materials to experiment with, and to go down the rabbit hole and draw on a few, is my creative passion.
